    Black Peak Kalanag Trek Overview

    Black Peak (Kalanag) Trek:

The Black Peak, also known as Kalanag, is one of the most sought-after peaks in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, India. Standing tall at an elevation of approximately 6,387 meters (20,955 feet), this peak offers a challenging and exhilarating trekking experience for seasoned mountaineers and adventure enthusiasts.

The trek to Black Peak starts from the picturesque village of Sankri, nestled in the scenic Tons Valley. From Sankri, the journey takes trekkers through the lush meadows of Osla and Taluka, along the banks of the roaring Supin River. The trail is adorned with dense forests of pine and oak, vibrant rhododendron groves, and diverse flora and fauna, providing a captivating start to the expedition.

As trekkers ascend higher, they reach the scenic campsite of Ruinsara Tal, a glacial lake surrounded by pristine beauty. The reflection of the surrounding peaks in the calm waters of Ruinsara Tal is a sight to behold. From here, the trail becomes more challenging, leading trekkers through rocky terrains, moraines, and crevassed glaciers as they approach the Base Camp of Black Peak.

The highlight of the Black Peak Trek is the summit attempt itself. The climb requires technical skills, endurance, and determination, as trekkers navigate through steep inclines, icy slopes, and unpredictable weather conditions. However, the effort is rewarded with panoramic views from the summit, where trekkers are greeted with awe-inspiring vistas of the Garhwal Himalayas, including peaks like Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, and the distant ranges of Himachal Pradesh.

Throughout the trek, trekkers experience the raw beauty of the Himalayas, with opportunities to witness the rich cultural heritage of the region. Encounters with the warm and hospitable local villagers, traditional wooden houses, and ancient temples add to the cultural richness of the journey.

The Black Peak (Kalanag) Trek is not just a physical challenge; it's a journey of perseverance, self-discovery, and deep connection with nature. Whether you seek the thrill of high-altitude climbing, the serenity of remote Himalayan landscapes, or the fulfillment of conquering a formidable peak, Black Peak promises an unforgettable mountaineering adventure.
